FCF King ofthe Fairys is a prime representative of the breeding program of Faerie Court Farm.  He is part of the 2nd generation of our breeding and reflects the kind of quality in both physical tratis and interior qualities that we strive to produce.   King is the second foal from the nick of AAA Legend ofthe Seas x FCF Titanias Vanity.  While this nick was even better than we'd hoped, Legend's subfertility was burdensome to manage so once it was clear that King was an excellent stallion prospect, Legend was gelded and King was retained to help breed the lineage forward in the Faerie Court Farm program.

King is a charismatic, sociable, highly athletic young horse.  He is powerfully and correctly built with excellent bone, huge joints, and strong well balanced hooves.  He has a short broad loin, well let down hocks, a strong hip, a well laid back shoulder, good withers, and a deep heartgirth.  King has a very good walk and canter and shows excellent engagement and reach in the trot.  Perhaps even more importantly, King has an extraordinary temperament.  He is bold, inquisitive, and incredibly willing.

In the summer of 2011, King had some training to prepare him for showing in hand at USDF Breed Shows.  Normally, I do not like to show yearlings, but this young horse thrives on  new experiences and is eager to learn new things.  Still, we were mindful of King's age so we opted to have Thom act as his handler so that King would a familiar presence to rely on in the stimulating atmosphere of the show grounds.  A hurricane resulted in the cancellation of the first of the two DSHB shows where we had planned to show King, so he made his show debut at Dressage at Devon.  King was a late yearling at an awkward growth phase, but he earned a ribbon with his brother, FCF Enchanted Flame, in a deep Produce of Dam class, and in the Arabian IBC class.  We were pleased that the judges noted the quality of his walk, and his overall conformational correctness.  The real value of taking him to the show was seeing how he remained relaxed and curious in the bustling show environment.  We joked that he seemed to think the entire spectacle had been arranged for his entertainment!

As he has matured, King's character and temperament have remained exceptional.  We plan to test breed him to a few mares in 2017.
